Wilmor Group’s commercial strip out team carried out the full strip out of this 8 storey office building in a busy Manchester city centre location. Our soft strip teams are used to working in live and sensitive environments and we specialise in carrying out work in busy locations that demand a high level of planning and management.
Capita Plc employed Wilmor Group to execute a full strip out within tight timescales.
An initial assessment was made to control noise, dust and minimise disruption during the works. We planned the work carefully and put control measures in place including screening, water on tools and ensuring an appropriate level of ventilation was maintained.
A key consideration was how to efficiently remove the materials from the strip out given the busy city centre location.
A scaffold deck was built at first floor level on the front elevation of the building. The building was then fully stripped with the materials being brought down to the first floor for segregation.
During the final week of the project, we operated a lorry shuttle service to minimise loading time. The vehicles were loaded from the first-floor scaffold deck following a parking bay closure.
The strip out also involved the degassing of 27 air conditioning units and the safe removal of a window cleaners trolley rail from the roof.
